Beau Constantia-LUCCA-2011

The Du Preez family bought Beau Constantia farm in 2002. Two years prior, devastating fires destroyed any form of vegetation and thus the steep slopes had already been cleared and terraced, and were ready for planting vines.

After professional soil analysis, the first vineyards were planted in 2003 by farm manager, Japie Brom.

The steep slopes made it difficult to speed up the planting process, but with patience and the dedication of the team involved, the farm now maintains 11.47 hectares under vine.

The maiden vintage Lucca, named after one of the owner’s sons, is made up of 63% Merlot and 37% Cabernet Franc.

On the nose: aromas of blackberries and ripe plum, with hints of savoury tomato.

On the palate: where you experience the full, rich, silky black fruit flavour, along with lovely minerality, leading to a well-defined finish.
