The 2016 Good Food and Wine Show

Words: Crush

Rub shoulders with the kings and queens of the kitchen at the 2016 Good Food & Wine Show, taking place at the Cape Town International Convention Centre (CTICC) from Friday the 27th of May to Sunday the 29th of May 2016. Local and international celebrity chefs, the likes of Adriano Zumbo, George Calombaris, Jenny Morris, J’Something, Sarah Graham and Siba Mtongana will be showing off their culinary skills at the Chefs Open Theatre – open to visitors at no additional cost.

Adriano Zumbo also known as the ‘Sweet Assassin’, ‘Patissier of Pain’ and ‘The Dark Lord of the Pastry Kitchen’ is Australia’s most celebrated patissier. He first rose to fame on MasterChef Australia with a series of incredibly difficult desserts and has just finished filming his own TV show, ‘Zumbo’s Just Desserts’. He says, “I am really excited to be coming to South Africa and can’t wait to take part in the Good Food & Wine Show. I look forward to making sweet memories with visitors to the show.”

Fellow Aussie, George Calombaris, is not only a judge on MasterChef Australia but also owns seven restaurants in Melbourne, including the award-winning The Press Club. Named ‘Chef of the Year 2008’ by The Age Good Food Guide, he has regularly appeared on the daytime cooking show Ready Steady Cook and draws on his Greek and Cypriot heritage for inspiration.

Adding some local flavour will be Sarah Graham who is renowned for starring in two cooking shows which have aired both in South Africa and internationally. She started her food blog, ‘A Foodie Lives Here’ in May 2010, and later that year was the first South African food blogger to be awarded a cook book contract by Penguin Random House. Sarah is currently writing her fourth cookbook and planning another season of Sarah Graham’s Food Safari which will be filmed in East Africa later this year.

Those wanting to put their own culinary talents to the test can cook alongside these gastronomic greats in the Cooking with The Chefs Theatre. Alternatively, they can add to their résumé of recipes at the Masterclasses on offer at the Chefs Table at a cost of R600 per person.

Be sure to get your tickets to the continent’s premier culinary event and exhibition platform either from Computicket or at the door.
