Pieter de Jager
The young, vibrant, eager-to-teach, Pieter de Jager was introduced to the culinary scene at an early age, as he spent many evenings, while he was at school, cooking in his father’s restaurant in Pretoria. After his studies at the South African Chefs Academy, under the mentorship of culinary legends Garth Stroebel and Paul Hartmann, he spent valuable career time in Switzerland, France and the United Kingdom, predominantly at The Waterside Inn in Bray, England. Here he mastered the art of fine dining cuisine and silver service under the guidance of Michel Roux and his son Alain Roux. Upon his return to South Africa he worked under award-winning Chef Margot Janse and highly acclaimed Chef Chris Erasmus. Pieter now hosts Hands-on Cooking Classes and Demonstrations at Leopard’s Leap Family Vineyards near Franschhoek, whilst offering Rotisserie-based lunches complemented by a seasonal Harvest Table.
