Description

These burgers are mouth-watering and oh so easy to make! Yum!!

Ingredients

Burgers
1 kg pork mince
12 large sage leaves, finely chopped
1 large clove garlic, crushed
8 spring onions, finely chopped
salt and pepper to taste
Maple and sage sauce
1 Tbsp (15 ml) butter
20 whole sage leaves
100 ml maple syrup or maple-style syrup
Toppings
40 g fresh wild rocket
2 tomatoes, sliced
1 red onion, thinly sliced
1 packet (250 g) streaky bacon, grilled

Instructions

Combine all the burger ingredients in a bowl and mix together. Divide into 4 equal portions and shape into burgers about 15 cm across and 4–5 cm thick.

Braai the burgers over hot coals or in a hot griddle pan for 4–5 minutes on each side.

To make the maple and sage sauce, brown the sage leaves in a pan with the butter. Add the syrup and stir. Keep to one side.

Slice the bagels in half and toast. Drizzle one half with olive oil and place a burger on the bottom half of the bagel. Top with a good handful of rocket, a few slices of tomato and onion, and some bacon. Spoon the maple sauce evenly over the fillings and top with the other half of the bagel.
