2011
When you put three grape types together in a wine, known as a Bordeaux blend, one of the talents of a wine maker is to make a wine which is greater than the sum of its parts. Put it into French Oak barrels, 60% of them new, for 27 months and you’re more than likely to land up with a stonker of a wine.
Especially if your vineyards are well tended and the grapes reach the cellar at optimum ripeness. The Warwick Trilogy 2011 is a blend led by Cabernet Sauvignon, with Merlot and Cabernet Franc as the other parts.
On the nose: the bouquet is reminiscent of cherries and blackcurrants and has tones of dark chocolate.
On the palate: full bodied with firm but silky tannins. Decanting is recommended to express the true essence of this Bordeaux blend.
