Adi Badenhorst and family form part of the Swartland Revolution; here, it is considered a gift to be involved in winemaking, and it is about guiding the grapes into the bottle, rather than changing the grapes into wine. The aim is to add as little as possible to the wine during the process and to allow the natural processes to take place. This results in wines with fine complexity and a unique character. The winemaker has to understand the vineyards during harvest to know how best to guide the wine. No ‘corrections’ are made at any stage.

This wine is a blend of Cinsault, Shiraz, Grenache and Carignan, which is typical for the Swartland. These are also the same grape varieties found in the south of France where Rosé drinking is part of everyday life in the summer months. An abundance of flavours from strawberry to Turkish delight and pink grapefruit with a spicy undertone create a gentle mouth feel with a fresh, yet round finish. One glass very easily becomes two, and friends are essential to share this pleasure.
