Spiced Compound Butter

½ C (125 ml) butter, softened
½ C (125 ml) brown/caramel sugar
1 tsp (5 ml) ground cinnamon
1 tsp (5 ml) ground mixed spice
2 tsp (10 ml) vanilla extract

Buttered Cocktail

2 Tbsp (30 ml) spiced compound butter
½ C – 1 C (125-250 ml) boiled hot water
½ C (120 ml) Inverroche Verdant Gin

*optional cinnamon bark for garnish

Spiced Compound Butter

In a bowl mix together the butter, brown sugar, the spices and the vanilla. It is easier to do this when the butter is softened but not melted. Either leave to reach room temperature (if it’s warm enough) Or warm very gently in the microwave – be careful, you don’t want to melt the butter, it just needs to be mixable. Once well mixed, store in an airtight container until ready to use.

Buttered Cocktail

Place 2 tablespoons (20 ml) of spiced compound butter in a glass jug. Add 125 ml of boiling water (this will melt the butter and sugar) mix to combine. When melted and incorporated, add the Inverroche Verdant Gin and then taste. If it’s too strong for your taste, add hot water and adjust until you are happy with the flavour. Pour into glasses and garnish with a stick of cinnamon bark. Light the cinnamon for a sensory experience!
