Grilled Pork Chops with Butternut-and-Sage Mash


A delectable combination of pork with butternut and sage mash. Delish!

  • 1 kg butternut cubes
  • 2 cloves garlic, chopped
  • 8 sage leaves, chopped
  • 1 Tbsp (15 ml) olive oil
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 4 pork loin chops

Sage butter

  • 3 Tbsp (45 ml) butter
  • 6 sage leaves

Preheat the oven to 200 °C.

Place the butternut, garlic and chopped sage onto a baking tray. Drizzle with olive oil and season. Roast for 30 minutes or until softened and slightly charred.


Meanwhile, season the chops well with salt and pepper and pop them onto a roasting tray.

Sage butter

Heat the butter and sage until the butter is melted and turns a nutty colour.

When the butternut is ready, remove and set the oven to the grill setting. Move the oven rack to the highest shelf. Grill the pork chops for 6 minutes on each side.

While the chops are grilling, place the roasted butternut, garlic and sage together with the sage butter in a food processor and blitz until well combined and smooth.

Serve the grilled pork chops on a generous bed of butternut mash. Enjoy with a rocket salad.
