Oak Valley has produced a consistently good Sauvignon Blanc for many years. Situated in Elgin, this comes as no surprise, as the area has proved time and time again that it is ideal for growing this, and other cooler climate, wine varieties. Every year it is surprising to see how much later harvesting starts, as well as how long it continues – usually far beyond many of the surrounding areas. This Sauvignon Blanc is fresh and elegant but with an extra intensity of flavour and richer mouthfeel. This is mainly due to the inclusion of a larger portion of Semillon – still below the permitted 15%, which is why it is not stated on the label. This youthful wine can be enjoyed on a summer’s day and is perfect to sip on as the sun sets.
