Nico van der Merwe has been part of the Saxenburg Wine Estate since 1990 – only a year after the Bührer family from Switzerland bought the farm.

He was responsible for wine production at the Bührer’s farm in the south of France for many years and as such, has a remarkable knowledge of international wine.

Together with his wife Petra, they were in constant search for more and in 1999 Nico started to make wine under his own private label.

Shiraz has always been one of his passions, the first wine he made was an exceptional Cabernet Shiraz blend.

This is a special wine for the Christmas table. It will stand up to heavier meat dishes and will please anyone who prefers their wines on the slightly more serious side.

On the palate: shows white pepper spice, but with a good fruit backbone.
