This wine has secured its position as one of South Africa’s finest wines, with Chenin Blanc playing the lead role in this blend and all of the grapes being sourced from vineyards considered to be ‘old’ in South African terms.The wine contains 80% old vine chenin (up to 65 years), 13% Clairette Blanch (about 40 years old) and 7% Viognier. A touch of Viognier adds to the aromatic aromas, but the Chenin Blanc stands tall with citrus notes shining. After the grapes are crushed, juice is racked into barrel where fermentation starts naturally and the wine remains in barrel for a total of approximately 11 months before bottling. The end result is a wine that anybody would be proud of at a celebration.
