Kloof Street is a treasure trove for coffee lovers, and one of our favourites is Molten Toffee. The shop is run by friend duo Robbi Gorlick and Cian Van der Vyver who met while working at another spot up the road. The pair realised their own culinary and restauranteur dreams working together to open up their own place.
The eatery has become a favourite for Kloof Street locals and offers inside seating as well as a few tables outside under a tree. There is also window seating with a great view of passers-by and a few tables that line one side of the shop. The shop gets a lot of natural light, making it a perfect spot to enjoy a quick cuppa or light lunch. We love the addition of fresh flowers and the cute button stools, which work in this small, but inviting space. The wooden furniture, low hanging brass lights and screed floors perfectly complement the feature bar. Split into two sections, one covered in bespoke, graphic black and white patterned tiles and the other in a brass finish.
The deli counter is stocked with bite-sized sweet treats, quiches, croissants, cake, breakfast cups and other yummy offerings. You can order items like toasted sandwiches and specials like chicken kofta with dill and olive potatoes. The menu is small, as the kitchen space is limited, but changes constantly, so you’re guaranteed to find something you’ll love. What’s great about the menu is that they also offer number of healthy options too – gluten-free rotis and raw superfood treats, plus be sure to try their Almond Latte, which is dairy, lactose, cholesterol, soy, peanut and gluten free. Pop by for a take-away before work or grab a coffee during lunchtime and soak up the lively atmosphere of Kloof Street.
Keep up to date with the Molten Toffee team on social media as they offer fun events such as quiz nights and after work drinks (now open until 21h00) and apparently they serve a mean Molten Mojito!
Open Monday-Saturday – check in for opening hours as they change seasonally.
