David Finlayson established his own brand, Edgebaston, some years ago. However, when something special comes along, David will put his personal stamp on it. Two new wines were produced last year under the Camino Africana range, namely Pinot Noir Reserve 2012 and Chenin Blanc Single Vineyard Old Vine 2013.

Only 585 bottles of Pinot Noir were made with grapes from a 20-year-old vineyard on the Stellenbosch Mountains, which was initially planted as an experimental block. In his search for special and undiscovered sites and wines, David found these grapes and has followed their path into this fantastic Pinot Noir.

This wine is an example of what potential exists for this varietal in Stellenbosch, when the right clone is fitted into the perfect site and terroir. This is a truly special gift for a special friend.

On the nose: it welcomes your nose with an earthy aroma.

On the palate: the wine has an unmistakable minerality and a salty, umami flavour running through it.
