Crush 37

Holiday hangovers have eventually lifted and this issue, our first for 2014, has millions of brightly illuminated pixels screaming – summer love.

The Queen of tarts is unashamedly ruling the tarts with her decadent Naked Triple Chocolate Mousse Cake. Wipe your brow, take a sip of iced cold Karoo Mineral Water and stroke that digital page away from where it came from! Yes, it gets even hotter with Luisa Farelo’s Three Cheese Muffins. I mean, have you ever!

Of course, the month of love and Crush, are not all about eating. We discover that the Hemel-en-Aarde wine route is only a romantic hour and half’s drive from Cape Town International. There are so many estates to visit – pass the day with enjoying heavenly delights and damn fine, award-winning wines, too.

If it’s steam with a bit of extra heat you’re looking for, Georgia Schumann goes all the way to Sri Lanka looking for some spice and finds incredible delicacies in the houses of the generous locals and not in the touristy, beachside restaurants.

Splash through a couple of pomegranate ideas, check out the cellar filled with bubbles and pink stuff, eat tea with Mari-Louise Guy and Callie Maritz, hear what Peter Tempelhoff has to say about his exciting, brand new restaurant, Mondiall, but most of all – remember to cook up something tasty for your partner this month. If that doesn’t work, forward a copy of Crush to a secret admirer. You never know – it may just work!

As always, we hope that you enjoy this issue and are inspired to keep eating and drinking until the next issue!
