Coastal Cuvée Sauvignon Blanc
Sauvignon blanc
Stellenbosch
2014
Sitting atop the Helshoogte Pass, this estate is well positioned to exploit the wine route traffic from Stellenbosch to Franschhoek. Previously belonging to John Platter, the renowned wine writer, the estate was acquired by Laurence Graff in 2003. He immediately embarked on a programme of rebuilding the restaurant and wine tasting areas, with a hotel and spa being added subsequently.
The grapes are sourced from four wine regions namely Stellenbosch, Darling, Franschhoek and Durbanville. Made from 95% Sauvignon Blanc and 5% Semillon the wine is rich in tropical fruit flavours, underpinned by layers of blackcurrant, gooseberry and nettles. Well balanced and complex, it finishes long, with concentrated fruit and fresh, crisp acidity.
