Avondale Navitas
Red
Paarl
2008
All of the natural elements, seen and unseen, are considered in the daily activities, farming, winemaking and wine drinking, at Avondale. They have recently launched a new flagship red wine, Navitas, a Latin word signifying energy, taking the natural philosophy to new heights.
This Rhône-style blend of Shiraz, Mourvédre and a little Grenache is their ultimate expression of natural winemaking. The wine spent a total of 18 months in barrel before the final resting time in bottle. Each bottle is individually packed in a special cork and aluminium
Each bottle is individually packed in a special cork and aluminium cannister, which can be beautifully stacked, almost like a beehive. It would benefit from a few more year’s cellaring, but the farm has done most of the hard work already. Don’t be shy to open a bottle at your special celebration this winter.
On the nose: rich nose of dark stewed fruits, cloves and cinnamon.
On the palate: the wine is full bodied, yet gentle and easy to understand.
