Giny Povall is the dynamic lady behind the Botanica wines and even though productions are small, and not too many people know about the wines, they are world class – the Chenin Blanc 2011 received 5 Stars in the Platter’s Guide.

Protea Heights Farm is located in Devon Valley outside Stellenbosch. The 21.6 ha farm is planted with 10 ha of flowers and 5 ha of vineyards. In the late 1940s, this was the first farm in South Africa to cultivate Protea flowers and is believed to be the first farm to export flowers in the 1960s.

On the nose: offers delicate flavours of the sweet aroma of strawberries as well as hints of herbal plants.

On the palate: on the palate with a hint of herbs, it has a good fresh acidity with smooth vanilla notes on the finish.
