The Hipster Bloody Mary
The ultimate hangover cure!

a pinch of sea salt or celery salt
2 pinches of black pepper
juice of ½ a lemon
2 Tbsp (30 ml) Sriracha sauce
1 Tbsp (15 ml) hot sauce of your choice*
1 Tbsp (15 ml) Worcestershire Sauce
1 Tbsp (15 ml) Soy sauce
2 drops of Liquid Smoke
a few blocks of ice
300 ml tomato juice
¼ C (60 ml) vodka (original recipes call for equal amounts of vodka to tomato juice, your choice)
*Try Peppadew® Hot Splash-on Sauce, Woolworths Mild Red Sauce or your favourite Tabasco variety.
1 packet of streaky bacon
5 tsp (25 ml) maple syrup
fresh black pepper
a wedge of fresh lemon
black sea salt
crushed green pepper corns
Peppadew® Piquanté Peppers (1 per glass)
ready cooked prawns (1-2 per glass)
fresh celery ribs (1 per glass)
Preheat the oven grill.
Brush the bacon with maple syrup and season with black pepper. Grill the bacon until the fat has rendered and is crispy. Use 1-2 rashers per glass and keep the rest on hand for the next round.
Run a cut lemon wedge around the edge of the serving glass. Dip the glass in the black sea salt and crushed green pepper corns.
Add the ingredients for the drinks to the glass, spices and condiments first, followed by ice and lastly the tomato juice and vodka.
Stir. Taste. Adjust seasoning. Garnish. Drink. Repeat.
